Brethern,

Grand Master James Brumit knows how to hold a Grand Master’s Conference.

The Dallas GM Conference was fantastic and I en- courage all to attend the May 5 conference in Ft Worth. Or check the Grand Lodge website and attend any other of his conferences. Most Worship- ful Brumit utilized several Masonic resources to educate and bring us his message at the Confer- ence. He has asked his GL committees to make reports and deliver information we did not get at the December Grand Lodge. We heard from the Educa- tion committee regarding the Lamar Medal.

And the “Pass It On” Booklet was rolled out. This program has been developed by Brother Gary Alex- ander. It focuses on how to attract good men to Masonry and retain the Brothers after they have petitioned. Our Chairman for Membership Develop- ment is the Senior Deacon, and Membership Reten- tion is the Junior Warden. Brothers, there is plenty of opportunity to serve on these committees. Volun- teer to David and John.

A key point in the Pass It On booklet is how to attract the right individual to our fraternity. While we will never abandon the principle of not soliciting mem- bership, because it must be of his own free will and accord to ask. But it is very appropriate to ask a good man if he has ever considered asking for a petition and would he like more information to help make a good decision. You will hear more in our upcoming meetings.

And Brothers, one task in retaining members, is to ask those who are in arrears to send in their dues. Our dues are due December 31. Grand Lodge law requires we compile a list of Brothers not current in dues, and assign a special committee to contact each one. Brothers, if you have not paid your dues yet, please take a moment today and take care of this business. Your financial support is necessary for our Lodge. And thank you to all who have paid, and thanks to the Brothers who contributed addi- tional funds!

Review the Trestle Board for more opportunities of love and labor, remembering that many hands will lighten our burdens! Brethren, I look forward to seeing you at these opportunities!

Fraternally,
Bruce Dalton

Worshipful Master

Brethren,

The recording of our Community Service activities is a very important function of our Lodge. It enables us and all Texas Lodges to maintain a Tax Except status. We are performing the service in the community and that is a good thing. What you need to do is record it on the form we provide and pass that on to me so I can report it to the Grand Lodge. If you have any doubt whether your action is reportable “DO IT ANYWAY”. We are working with the Grand Lodge in making a list of recordable actions.

Fraternally,
Walie Francks Sr.
Master of Ceremonies
