Shriners
The Ancient Arabic Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Shriners)was created in 1872 by a group of Masons who felt the lodge had become too serious and stuffy. It is dedicated to putting some of the boy back into the man. It takes its symbolism from the Arabian walk of life. They are known for their Shriner’s Hospitals for Cripple Children and Burn Units. Within their organization they have several units that perform various activities to raise funds for the hospitals or perform services to assist Masonic Youth or civic activities. One has probably heard of the Shrine Circus, or seen Shriners riding in parades on go karts, atv’s three and four wheels, or performing in parades as the Krazy Klowns, Krazy Kops, Oriental Band, or Color Guard. Anyone who is a member in good standing of a Blue Lodge may petition to join.
